Project description –

The 701-km Mumbai Nagpur Expressway/ Samruddhi Mahamarg will pass through Nagpur-Wardha-Amravati-Washim-Buldhana-Jalna-Aurangabad-Nashik-Ahmednagar-Thane. Inter-connecting highways and feeder roads would be constructed to connect all important cities and tourist places along the Mumbai Nagpur expressway route. An additional fourteen districts namely Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Akola, Hingoli, Parbhani, Nanded, Beed, Dhule, Jalgaon, Palghar and Raigad will be connected because of the Samruddhi Mahamarg. The Mumbai Nagpur expressway will also connect with Maharashtra’s major tourist destinations including Shirdi (5 km), Bibi ka Maqbara (5km), Sula Vineyards (8 km), Trimbakeshwar Shiv Temple (14 km), Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary (60 km), Pench National Park (95 km) and Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (124 km).

Similarly, under the Bharatmala project, Aligarh-Kanpur section National Highway No-91 in UP through the National Highways Authority of India from Bhadwas to Kalyanpur (46.164 km) road has been constructed at Rs. 2304.74 crore. The road under construction passes through Bhadwas, Nagaria, Pilua, Etah and Gaon. And Aligarh-Kanpur section National Highway No-91 in UP under Bharatmala Project through NHAI, Kalyanpur to Naviganj (61.211km) road was dedicated to the public.

Delhi-Vadodara expressway

Project description –

The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide (expandable to 12-lane) under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India’s national capital New Delhi with its financial capital Mumbai. The under-construction Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway has been subsumed in this project. Foundation stone of the project was laid by union minister Nitin Gadkari in presence of Sushma Swaraj & Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores. An additional 30 km long spur will also be constructed by the NHAI from Noida International Airport in Jewar to Ballabgarh on this expressway. Upon completion in March 2023, it will become India’s longest and busiest expressway.

Project description –

National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-VI is for development of 1000 km of expressways and includes construction of about 379 km long Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway proposed to be implemented under Public Private Partnership mode and to be executed as Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) contracts. The proposed Main Expressway passes through the states of Maharashtra, Union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Gujarat. The total length of the proposed expressway is about 379 km and runs generally parallel to the existing NH-8.

The Project Expressway Package III of the Expressway traverses through Bharuch districts viz. starts from Manubar Km 292+000 and ends at Sanpa Km 323.00 near Karjan City in the state of Gujarat.

Kosi River Bridge

  • The rail line for Kosi Mahasetu project was sanctioned during 2003 – 2004 and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 516 crore.
  • The Kosi mega bridge is 1.9 km long.
  • The Kosi Rail Mahasetu bridge is located on the Nirmali-Saraigarh section of the ECR’s Samastipur division.
  • The dedication of the mega-bridge is a watershed moment in the history of Bihar and the entire region connecting to the North East. It is of strategic importance along the India-Nepal border. The Kosi Mega Bridge cuts an otherwise 300-kilometre long journey between Samastipur and Jaynagar on Indo-Nepal border to just 22 km.
