Spherical Bearings

A Spherical Bridge Bearing is a specially designed structural device engineered to transmit high vertical and horizontal loads from the bridge superstructure to the supporting substructure while accommodating significant rotational movements. Unlike POT bearings, which rely on a confined elastomeric pad to facilitate rotation, spherical bearings operate through a low-friction sliding interface between a convex spherical steel surface and a corresponding concave bearing seat. This design enables smooth rotational movement and supports reliable performance under demanding bridge loading conditions.
